Success & Epic Fail, A Christmas Story!

This past weekend we decided to get the girl's pictures taken with Santa and then start a family tradition by going out and cutting down our Christmas tree. It snowed Friday night before and all day Saturday so there were a couple inches of snow on the ground. Nothing compared to our Buffalo, NY friends but enough to make the roads icy and slick.  We started out at the mall for pictures with Santa. The girls were dressed in their "I Love Santa" outfits complete with little matching Santa hats. We were met throughout the mall with cries of: "Ohhhhhh, how cute!" and "There sooooooooo adorable!" We made our way over to the spot where the Santa pictures were being taken and as you can see based on the picture to our right the pictures were a success!

We then headed out to the Christmas tree farm. We knew that it was going to be cold outside so we brought the girls snowsuits and along the way N was being especially fussy but we thought maybe she was tired so when we got there Melissa said she was due to be changed. So I pulled her out of the car seat and Melissa exclaimed, "Oh my!" The diaper we put on her last either wasn't on right or failed because we had one poop covered baby! Melissa took her to the back of the car and started to undress her, however as anyone who has changed a baby in the back of a car knows there is not a lot of room. She pulled off N's pants and put them up above her head and then pulled off the shirt and set it aside. Great if N was stationary, not so great if she likes to roll, which she does!

N rolled into her pants with her head, yes getting poop on the back of her head and arms. She then decided to pull the snow pants closer to her, dragging them over the poopy onesie. Once she had a fresh diaper on Melissa handed me the poop covered N and she claims I held her like a bomb, I don't remember this. She told me to go in the front seat and clean her up and change her into the spare outfit we had from the diaper bag (a short sleeve onesie because we hadn't updated the outfits for winter yet). OH, and during this whole process we ran out of wipes (or so we thought little did we realize there was a entire package of wipes that never made it into daycare in the backseat). So here I am in the front seat using another clean onesie dipped in the water cup we got at Chick-fil-a. We got everything taken care of and were able to cut down our first family Christmas tree. See the pictures from cutting down the tree to the left.

A Day Alone With The Girls

Leah, Me, & Natalie Hanging Out!
Sorry, it has been so long since I have blogged. Today, our day care wasn't open so I had to take the day off to watch Leah & Natalie.  I have never watched them for a whole day, all by myself, so I was a little nervous.  Everyone got up early, I made breakfast for Melissa and myself, fed the girls, changed them, and got them dressed.  Melissa left for work and the day began.  We hung around the house for a while I would get the girls up change, feed, and play with them and then put them back down for a nap, their usual routine.  Leah, took a 3 hour nap which surprised me!  Around, 9 Melissa texted me and asked how things were going, I told her they were going fine and that I was heading out in a while to go to Target to get our quick shopping trip done.  Around 12:15 I packed up the girls and we headed out to Target and Chick-fil-a for lunch for me.  While at Target we picked up a few things but one of the things we picked up were 2 Bumbo Seats.  These seats are designed to help babies practice sitting up.   While in the store we had a mini meltdown but everything was quickly returned to normal and then we went up to pay.  The cashier at the front said: "Why are they with you today?"  I said, "Well, our daycare is closed today and mommy couldn't take the day off so it's me and the girls!" We paid for our items and headed to Chick-fil-a. I picked up lunch and headed back to the house.  Leah was fussing until I got the car moving and then she slowly fell back asleep.  When I got home I kept the girls in their car seats and fed them while I ate my lunch, I even gave April some chicken nuggets! After lunch, I played with the girls a little bit and then put Natalie down for a nap and Leah fell asleep in the swing for a little bit.  The rest of the afternoon was pretty uneventful.  I would say we had a pretty successful day and I took tons of pictures!

My Birthday Weekend!

This weekend my parents came into town for my birthday. They arrived Friday night with a surprise. I had asked if they were driving through Columbus to come and visit us because if they were I was going to put in a request for them to stop at Tim Horton's for some Tim Bits, however they said they were not going that way, but when they got out of the car they both had a 40 pack of Tim Bits. They then took us out for dinner at Claddagh Irish Pub where I had an Irish Car Bomb. This was the first drink I think that my mom saw me chug, it was funny.

Saturday morning my dad had a walk to go to so Melissa and I woke up and went to one of the twin's sales in Cincinnati. A twins/multiples sale is where mothers of multiples come to sell their items that their kids have outgrown for discounted prices. Melissa and I went and bought a ton of stuff for cheap. We then went to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and then went home to unload some of the stuff we bought and then we picked up my mom to go to Baby's-R-Us for some car seat bases a
nd other items. We then went to, Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then we went to Once Upon A Child to look for a bassinet. Melissa has always wanted one but we hadn't found one. We were in luck because we were able to find one and bought it. We then went back to our apartment where we watched NCAA Basketball and we made our famous Chicken Enchiladas for dinner.

Sunday we went to mass and then we went to Terry's Turf Club for lunch. We had so
me of the best burgers I have ever had and then we came back to our apartment were Melissa and I fell asleep. We then went out shopped for dinner and concluded the weekend with dinner made by Melissa and me, we watched some basketball, and then I said goodnight to my parents as I was exhausted. I always have fun when my parents come in to visit for the weekend.

Day 1 of the Boy's Spring Break!

Well both, Alex and Nick, are finally here in Cincinnati. Total we went to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast before heading to Cosco for our monthly trip for groceries there. After that we took April for a really long walk to tire her out prior to Nick arriving in the afternoon. I learned that I was able to keep up with my high school aged brother in a run during our walk. We then came back and had Salmon for dinner which was excellent. Nick and I played NCAA 2009 on his Xbox and be both won a game each. I posted some of the highlights from my first game with him. Tomorrow it's off to Keeneland for racing. Wish us luck as we try and make some money or at least have a fun day and come back with plenty of pictures!
