A Great Tuesday!

I had a great Tuesday this week. Today started off with Melissa suggesting that I take a class in digital photography which I am very interested in and going to do it. I found that my job will also (as long as they deem it a business need) reimburse me the tuition expense. I also was able to get the authentication working for my companies intranet, which by the way we were given the go ahead to start coding, wow! I also learned that I will be working on a site for one of our business partners that I will be able to share after it is completed.

As if that wasn't enough for the day Melissa and I went down and challenged ourselves to running 3 miles around the lake by our apartment complex which is .3 miles around. This means we had to run around the lake 10 times without walking/stopping. I am happy say that we both accomplished it. This means we did an impromptu Sunburst 5k run! I am so proud of my wife and myself for completing this task and Melissa even got some words of encouragement from people passing her by. Then we had a really healthy dinner including turkey burgers & shish ka bobs.

Mondays

Starting this week I have a meeting on every Monday for the next 7 weeks from 4-6. This has put a kink in our normal routine. I've gotten in the habit of working from 7:30-4, which I love because it allows me to come home and have dinner underway before Greg gets here most days. There are a couple of nice things about my new Monday schedule:
  • This morning I did get to go to the gym and get in a 2.5 mile run before the work day began.
  • Greg let April run and greet me at the car when I got home
  • Greg will have dinner ready for me when I get home (this one did not work out today, but I think Greg will be on track next week)
  • There is not a huge push to rush out the door for work on Monday mornings!

Low Key Sunday

Well not much to write about today. Church, grocery store, laundry, cleaning, exercising, dinner, laundry, bed, enough said. Now that we have built the steps the task/goal is to get April to use them. We can get her to walk on them but sometimes she falls back into the old habit of jumping on/off the bed. We also kept today a slow and easy day due to the fact that we have the boys coming this week and next week will be a busy week. Well that's all for now, more to come tomorrow. Oh, and thanks Louisville for costing Melissa and me what little points we had left to earn in her office pool, Awesome!

Carpenter's Melissa & Greg

Today was spent making stairs for April for the bed. We started last night staining and cutting the wood and today we went and got the fabric and padding for the steps. We decided since our pieces that make up the sides didn't match that we would cover the sides with cloth also to make it look nicer. Here are some of the pictures we took during the construction of this magnificent engineering feat. For our first building project together I would say we did pretty good.

Well after doing our taxes I think we are going to go outside and do some running since the "weather forecasters *cough* guessers *cough*" here in Cincinnati got the weather report wrong and now it is not supposed to rain till tonight. Way to go guys. More posts to come.

April's Little Workshop

Since we decided that April was old enough to not need to sleep in the crate at night, she frequently jumps up on the bed and sometimes she misses. We found out that this can cause arthritis in dogs when they get older. So this is why we decided to get April some doggie steps for the bedroom. Now, we could buy the steps but we thought it would be fun to make a project out of them so that is what we did. We started this evening and I will keep you up to date on their progress.

It's only 1 week away. The boys are coming to visit Melissa & me. We are going to go to Keeneland Race Track, a Cincinnati Reds game, bike riding, running, and several other places. I'll have plenty of pictures to post for you. Well time to turn in, night!

It's my Birthday Today

Well it was 30 years ago today that this world was graced with my presence. Seriously, thank you for all the birthday wishes on facebook and the cards. My co-workers got me a cake and a card which was great but my parents got balloons for me which I did not expect. Let the video below be a lesson to anyone who is thinking of getting April balloons for her birthday, they are not her favorite thing in the world.

Melissa's Sick :-(

Melissa wasn't feeling well this evening so we didn't get to go and run at the gym, however in order to get my 1/2 hr exercising out of the way I went on a bike ride. My meeting to review the company intranet at work got pushed back to tomorrow so I'll update you then. Notre Dame plays Kentucky in the N.I.T Tournament tonight so wish them well. Also, tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY!

Today at work

I finally got the authentication feature for my company's intranet working today so, as long as they approve our layout tomorrow I can start coding it. I am so excited since this will be my first intranet that I am building from the ground up. I really feel like the work I am doing now is the most coding intense than I have ever done before and I love it. Some people might call me weird but I call it fun! I'll let you know if we get approval tomorrow.

Just a Case of the Mundays!

Well, with the passing of Sunday that means it is the start of another work week. This Monday was a very frustrating day at work. I am working on a new feature for our website and I was working on it all day cause I couldn't get the logic to work quite right. Let's just say I sent the page I was working on into an infinate loop, several times. It was not pretty. I hope to get it work tomorrow morning so that I can start working on our company's intranet site.
Tonight, Melissa made a very healthy Bar-B-Que Chicken Pizza and we got our running out of the way early. It was nice enough this evening that we sat out on our porch and enjoyed the nice evening weather. April seemed to enjoy it as well and I hope the weather stays this nice for a while. More to come!

Running plans

Greg and I have decided this is the year we are finally going to break through and lead healthier lives. We have said this in the past but this time we've really stuck with it since January. This is pretty impressive since most people do not stick with their New Year's resolutions beyond Valentine's Day. We are more than a month past that and still going strong. The key driver for this has been that we have set some goals for ourselves for the year. We are planning on running in a few races over the coming months.

May - The Flying Pig 5k & Redlegs 5k
June - Sunburst 5k or 10k
July - Cincinnati Duathlon
October -Reggae run & Indianapolis half marathon
November - Cincinnati Turkey Trot

We have set some pretty high goals, but without goals you are not working towards anything and will not get any joy out of the exercising. I think this can apply to other areas of life as well.

Today we introduced some biking into our routine to help us better prepare for the duathlon. We rode 5 miles around the Lunken Airport in Cincinnati. We found the ride to be very invigorating. It is amazing to see how far we have come with our fitness level in a couple of months since the last time we went bike riding we were out of breath very quickly. We did this biking in addition to taking April for a nice walk this morning and followed it up with a 2 mile run.

We are really on our way now and we love it! Here is to a continued happy & healthy 2009.

Steam Cleaning

Greg decided to steam clean the carpet in the apartment tonight. This always makes for a good time since we get to see all of the dirt we have been walking around on for the past 6 months. It makes me kind of ill but I am glad when it is done!

April does NOT enjoy it when we steam clean or vaccum the carpets in general. She seems to be at odds with the infernal noise machines. This means she either runs around the apartment like a crazy dog or hides waiting for the noise to end.

Saturday At Home

Melissa & I took advantage of the nice weather today and we took April for a long 2.5 mile walk. After that Melissa went to the store and I went to take my car for a much needed wash. One picture below shows my clean car and the other one shows April looking at me in front of the window with her rawhide bone hanging from her mouth.

Changes are Coming!

Hey everyone, well in just a few hours time my NCAA brackets are probably all busted, even though I did pick the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky. I let you know how the rest of the tournament goes! Notre Dame is still in the N.I.T which is great. I wanted to let you know that I am going to be change the layout and logo soon. Hope you like the changes that I make and if you don't, too bad :-p it's my blog. Talk to you soon!

Melissa

Hi there. I am joining Greg's blog. Allow me to introduce myself I am his wife of almost 4 years. We have been together for 9 years effective this past week. We live in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have been here for a little more than a year and we are enjoying our time here. I work for one of the local hospitals in their IT department.

We are not planning any children yet. However, we do have a dog. She is about a year old and spoiled rotten! We love her dearly.

That is all for now. I look forward to adding more soon.

March Madness Has Set In

Well it is March and as every college basketball fan knows that means MARCH MADNESS. I can believe the saying that these next few days are some of the least productive days at work for companies due to the tournament. I would like to thank CBS for providing the feeds (available in HD - new this season) online. That is just one more distraction that I don't need at work :-). I'll try and keep you posted on my brackets and where I stand. I tried to set up a bracket for our apartment contest here in Kentucky with very little success. Well, it's time for me to turn in so that I don't fall asleep at my desk tomorrow with CBS March Madness On Demand running on my computer. More to come!

Welcome Everyone

Hey everyone welcome to the new home of 260 O'Neil Productions.com. I created this page due to the fact that I lost my hosting setup with my previous host company and not wanting to fall off the web completely I decided that I would start a blog. Now I expect that if I am going to blog about my life that there will be tons of subscribers (hi Mom & Dad) here wanting to know about my wife's and my lives. Have to go help with dinner more to come!
