Catching Up: Goal Updates

Over the next few days I am going to go back through the blog and try to catch up on all of the excitement we've had over the past couple months.  Things have picked up for us again since Greg has started his work with the Reds again.  He loves working the games so there are no complaints about the second job.  It is great to see him doing something he loves on the side and he gets to watch most of the games, which works for me since I'm not really much of a baseball fan.  Although, I can't deny that I've actually paid more attention this year and can name more players than I ever have in the past.

I figured I would start with a quick goal update:

Goal one: Run a marathon!

We've had to adjust this goal.  Unfortunately, as the spring as gone by I've been plagued with a variety of running injuries.  It started with shin splints, moved onto a sprain ankle along with some achilles tenderness and culminated with runner's knee.  I've seen a PT for the shin splints and runner's knee and I'm basically stuck at a run as tolerated kind of place right now.  I can still run but I'm limiting it pretty significantly.  I'm slowly healing and doing much better with listening to my body.  As a result of this injury, we adjusted our goal appropriately.  We are running the Redlegs 5k this weekend (the girls will get to run in the Gapper Fun Run as well!).  Then we are going to spend June working on slowly building our mileage back up for 12-15 miles a week.  In July we will start training for two half-marathons, one in October & one in November.  That should give me enough time to get healed and start training again a little more slowly.

Goal two: De-clutter our lives!

We've still been keeping on with this goal as well.  We just quit taking pictures of every item we've gotten rid of, mostly because it is mostly me tossing items of clothing that I've shrunked out of most days and who cares about that.  We decided though in June we are going to up the ante a little and have decided to accept a challenge I found on the Minimalists website.  Basically we will be getting rid of one item on the 1st, two items on the 2nd, three on the 3rd, etc.  We haven't discussed whether we will post about it, I guess you will have to see.   I think it will get challenging as the month goes on, but I look forward to the boost in momentum.

Goal three: Continue our house journey!

We've pretty much faltered on this one.  We got about 3/4 of the way through doing the closet and that is about it. It is time to review these goals together and figure out what is possible.  We've become very focused on making a lot of changes in the yard so we are not unfocused on the house altogether, really we've just shifted our interests for now.
