Flying Pig 5k

Today we ran in our first official post baby race! We went last night on a whim and signed up for the Flying Pig 5k. The girls had a great time. N slept for the first half and L slept for the second half. As you can see in the last pic they even got medals for "participating." Our time wasn't great because we spent the first mile trying to manuever the stroller around all of the walkers but the 2nd miles went quickly. We had a great time and we are looking now for more stroller friendly races to run around town.

Pigtails

L & N's bangs have been getting pretty long and thick over the past month and I've been debating what to do with them. I really don't want to cut it yet. This morning I pulled their hair back and it was so stinking cute I wanted to share. I think we are going to stick with this "style" for awhile as long as they are agreeable. They both kept it in all day and that made me pretty happy.

Chipotle

Greg has been out of town for the week and L's godmother came over tonight to help me out a little. She brought the girls their first Chipotle dinner. Yummm, carnita soft tacos. They loved them & they loved the guac too!

A Curvy Road, Traffic, & A Cabin!

Melissa and I recently won 2 free nights from Hearthside Cabin Rentals through a Facebook giveaway and we chose this weekend to use it. We traveled down last night and made our way to our cabin that we chose. We woke up this morning and headed to get breakfast/lunch at Chick-fil-a and then headed to the Smoky Mountains. I put on my jeans that morning since it felt cold and after we went to Chick-fil-a I changed into my cargo shorts. The reason I say this will become apparent soon. We headed into the Smoky Mountains and Melissa wanted to head to Clingmans Dome to do some hiking with the girls in carriers on our chests. Now Melissa had to hang out in the back of the CRV since the girls were being less than cooperative passengers. Melissa forgot to tell me that this place we were going to was 1) in the middle of the park and 2) the highest point in the park. Due to 1 Melissa started getting car sick half way up to the Dome. I could hear her in the back seat going: "Uhhhh, I'm gonna be sick." After close to an hour of driving, we arrived at our destination of the Domes.

We pulled into the parking lot and started to look around and noticed winter coats, jackets, pants, gloves, etc. We looked at each other and looked at the temperature gauge in the car which read 44 degrees! Needless to say, I changed back into my jeans and we had to head to the gift shop to buy some fleeces since we were obviously not aware we were going to visit Siberia. A few dollars later we were on the way up to the look out tower. We decided against the hike due to the temperature and the girls temperament. However the view from the look out tower did not disappoint. See the video for a view from the tower. We took some video and pictures and then headed back down the mountain. Once at the bottom of the mountain we encountered the one thing I hate the world's worse traffic jam. We took approximately 2 hours to go about 4 miles. We were able to find a way out of the jam towards the end and found a back route to the restaurant we found for dinner that evening.

While at dinner we had the joy of seeing L and N's new skills. I call it "Monkey See, Monkey Do!" L would pound on the table and then laugh and then N would look at her and do the same. I don't know if it was the lack of sleep or what but it was so hilarious that we could not stop laughing! Thus ended day 1 of our trip, more to come about day 2 soon.

Weight loss goal setting

In the 9 months before I was pregnant with the girls Greg and I worked hard and lost about 90 pounds combined. Greg managed to keep his weight off and since I needed to gain more for twins and had an insatiable appetite I obviously gained. Additionally, I struggled with my appetite while I was nursing, I was STARVING all the time. Over the past 6 weeks I've officially weaned.

Now that the weather has finally improved and we have gotten into a good rhythm as a family, it is time to start losing this baby weight and continue the journey we began before. I renewed my subscription to the BodyBugg and we went and were fitted for new running shoes today. My feet went up a size! We also headed out to one of our favorite places to run, Lunken Airport, and did the whole 5 mile loop and ran half of it.

I've decided I need to set some goals for weight loss to help keep my eye on the prize with all of the other things that are going on in our lives right now. I've decided I'm going to lose 47 pounds before the end of December. Greg has only gained 10 pounds back since the girls arrived so he is in pretty good shape and has a much smaller goal than I do.

Here are some before pics with the girls, sorry there was some schmutz on the camera lens.

Swings & Slides!

Melissa said that she went to daycare this week and that they had L in the swings outside and she loved it.  Later that night after dinner we went out to the park by our apartment and we put the girls in the swings & down the slide and guess what, THEY LOVED IT!  Check out the pictures of the girls having fun outside earlier this week!

What kind of Mom am I?

Tonight L stuck her tongue out at me at the dinner table. I laughed and stuck my tongue back out at her. Probably not a good example, but it sure was funny!

Addendum: Twenty minutes later L decided she wanted to ride N and when I started to pull her off of her she started giggling when I said "no" and I had to turn away I was laughing so hard. I am in a lot of trouble.
